METRO HYPER GRID BAN
The OSgrid Board of Directors met Thursday, March 7, 2013 to discuss the ban of hypergrid users from Metropolis. The Board voted unanimously to continue the ban.
The Board also discussed ways that the ban might be lifted in the future.
Because there is no way for the grid that receives hypergriders to block an individual user, it is imperative that grids have a cooperative relationship so that griefing and disruptive behavior can be dealt with by the originating grid. For example, if someone from OSgrid were causing problems on Metropolis, it would be necessary for OSgrid Admins to deal with that individual.
This type of cooperative arrangement is not new and would be similar to arrangements between various newcomer groups in Second Life. We know it sounds a little like interplanetary diplomacy, but really that's what it is. A free and open metaverse is only possible if the grids cooperate.
The Board voted unanimously to contact Metropolis Administrators and try and set up a meeting to see if a cooperative relationship can be established.
Albertlr Landar, Board Secretary, sent an email to the Metropolis contact email on Thursday, March 7 requesting a meeting to discuss the ban. We have not received a response.
